Kornati islands
The Kornati Archipelago is situated south of the City of Zadar and it is surrounded by the island of Dugi Otok (to the north), Murter (to the east) and Zirje (to the south). The Kornati group of islands consists of over 140 island and islets and covers an area of approx. 85 square miles. The whole group of Kornati islands can be divided into two categories:
- UPPER KORNATI which are located closer to the mainland. The nethermost island of Sit (and its surrounding islets) also falls into this category. Zut is the largest of these islands.
- LOWER KORNATI include the island of Kornati and they face the open sea.
The Lower Kornati islands belong to the National Park Kornati and even though they are the most famous touristic spot on the whole Adriatic coast the land on them is still privately owned.
Sailing with a yacht (sailing yacht, catamaran, motor boat or gulet) to the Kornati Islands is like sailing towards a land of Gods. You can moore only in the bays designated for it and they are equipped with buoys. Some of these bays have restaurants where you can enjoy locally prepared and grown fruits and vegetables.
It doesn’t matter whether you are coming with friends or family, make sure you take your yacht (sailing yacht, catamaran, motor boat or gulet) to visit the National Park of Kornati and discover the beauty of Adriatic Sea with Lighthouse Yacht Charter Croatia.
