Mljet
The island of Mljet is a very well know to sailors and Greek mythology lovers. It is said that even Odysseus came along its shores during his return from the Troyan war to his beloved Penelope. Mljet is close to Dubrovnik city and because of almost no available accommodation, the island is tranquil once the tourists return to their yachts (sailing yachts, catamarans, motor boats or gulets).
The northwest part of the island (and the most beautiful one) was declared as a National Park in 1960. Because of this, no development is allowed on the island, and just a small number of restaurants exist on the island. The old Benedictine monastery still exists on the Veliko Jezero (Big Lake), but the monks deserted it a long time ago.
Because there is no development allowed on the island, there are no marinas available for yachts (sailing yachts, catamarans, motor boats or gulets) but there are small harbors and anchorages scattered around. The quays are dominated by restaurant moorings.
It doesn’t matter whether you are coming with friends or family, make sure you take your yacht (sailing yacht, catamaran, motor boat or gulet) to visit the island of Mljet and discover the beauty of the Adriatic Sea with Lighthouse Yacht Charter Croatia.
